Is Shockwave Therapy for you?

Radial shockwave therapy helps treat a range of conditions, especially where previous conservative management has failed to resolve the issue. Examples include:

  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Achilles tendinopathy
  • Patella tendinopathy
  • Hamstring tendinopathy
  • Shin splints

What is Shockwave Therapy & is It Effective?

Using an electrotherapy device, radial shockwave therapy is a safe, non-invasive therapy that makes use of high pressured acoustic shockwaves. The waves move through the skin to break down targeted tissue and stimulate tissue repair, in turn activating our natural healing mechanisms.

Shockwave therapy is a proven, research-based approach that can be highly effective in treating a range of chronic musculoskeletal conditions. While it is relatively new to Australia, shockwave therapy has been in use in North America and Europe for many years.

What Does a Shockwave Therapy Treatment Involve?

Shockwave therapy is a safe and non-invasive, involving the application of a contact gel to the area and a handheld probe to your skin. The probe delivers controlled acoustic waves for approximately 5-10 minutes for each injured area.

A shockwave therapy course typically entails weekly treatments for between 3 and 6 weeks. People experiencing chronic conditions, or problems that cause significant pain, may require a longer course of treatment.
